How to get from Fiumicino
to Via Veneto

Train, taxi or bus? Indicative travel times and practical tips to reach Via Sicilia 141 in Rome city centre, in the Ludovisi district just steps from Via Veneto — written by someone who lives here.

⏱ A note on timings. The times below are indicative and should be treated as a rough guide: traffic, connections, security queues, the time of day and the season can all change them considerably. At peak times and at weekends, always allow extra margin.

Leonardo Express + Metro A Recommended

⏱ from ~45 min door to door🚄 direct, non-stop🕐 frequent departures all day

The Leonardo Express is the direct train linking the airport to Termini Station non-stop in 32 minutes, immune to Rome traffic. It leaves from the railway station inside the airport (follow the "Treni / Trains" signs from arrivals, a 5-10 minute walk), with frequent departures throughout the day (current times on Trenitalia).

Once at Termini, take Metro Line A towards Battistini: two stops and you are at Barberini. From there Via Veneto is just around the corner and the Ludovisi district opens up in front of you.

💡 Tip: buy your Leonardo Express ticket online or on the Trenitalia app while still on the plane, so you can walk straight onto the train. If you buy a paper ticket, remember to validate it before boarding.

Fixed-fare taxi Most convenient

⏱ from ~35 min depending on traffic💶 fixed fare to the centre👥 up to 4 passengers

By law, the ride from Fiumicino to the historic centre (within the Aurelian Walls, and Via Sicilia is well inside them) has a fixed fare, luggage included — the current amount is displayed on official signs at the airport and in the taxi itself. Very convenient for groups of 3-4 or with lots of luggage: split between you, the cost per person comes close to the train.

⚠️ Watch out: only use the official white taxis queuing outside the exits, with a roof sign and meter. Ignore anyone approaching you inside the terminal offering rides: they are unlicensed and prices soar.

Low-cost bus Cheapest

⏱ from ~45 min to Termini💶 the cheapest option

Several companies (Terravision, SIT, Schiaffini) connect Fiumicino to Termini with direct coaches. It is by far the cheapest choice, ideal on a tight budget with flexible timing — but it depends on traffic and can take considerably longer at peak hours. From Termini, same route as above: Metro A to Barberini.

Private transfer (NCC)

⏱ from ~35 min💶 on request🤝 driver waiting at arrivals

If you prefer to find a driver holding a sign with your name right at arrivals, a private transfer booked in advance is the stress-free choice — especially sensible for late-night arrivals or families with children. If you are staying with us, just message us on WhatsApp: we are happy to help arrange it.

What about the journey back to the airport?

The route works exactly the same way in reverse: from Via Sicilia walk to Barberini Metro, take Line A towards Anagnina and get off at Termini after two stops; from there the Leonardo Express takes you to Fiumicino in 32 minutes. Fixed-fare taxis, buses and private transfers all work in both directions too.

🧳 Departure tip: allow about one hour from the apartment to the check-in desks, plus the time your airline recommends. If your flight is very early in the morning, a taxi or a transfer booked the evening before is the calmest choice. And if your check-out is in the morning but your flight is in the evening, just message us: we can arrange to store your luggage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the fastest option overall?

The Leonardo Express + Metro A: from about 45 minutes door to door, with no traffic risk at all. Late in the evening, when the roads are clear, a taxi can be slightly quicker.

What if I land at night, when the train is not running?

An official fixed-fare taxi or a pre-booked private transfer: these are the two reliable options at night. With our Smart Lock self check-in you can get into the apartment at any hour anyway.

How much time should I allow for the trip back to the airport?

About one hour from the apartment to the check-in desks using Metro A + Leonardo Express, plus the boarding time your airline requires. For very early flights, a taxi or a pre-booked transfer is the safer bet.

How do I get from Barberini to the apartment?

A five-minute walk along the elegant streets of the Ludovisi district: coming out of the metro, Via Sicilia 141 is just behind Via Veneto. With heavy luggage, a taxi from the station takes no time at all.
